M.U. Student Media

Marquettetribune.org is the online version of the Marquette Tribune. Updated daily and with regular multi-media versions and additions to print stories, it also includes the entire Tuesday and Thursday Marquette Tribune print editions.

Marquettejournal.org is the on-line presence of the Marquette Journal student lifestyle magazine. It not only publishes print versions of the magazine, including archives, but exclusive on-line offerings as well.

MUTV.edu offers a guide to programming over campus closed-circut network and links to webcasts of M.U. sporting events.

Marquette Radio is a guide to shows and news from the campus' student-run radio system.

iwantmedia.com offers daily new media headlines. Well worth keeping up with.

Jay Rosen of New York University’s blog often has thoughtful commentary and provacitive discussions.

Journalism.org: lots of journalism news

Editor & Publisher, industry magazine online edition (don’t have to be a subscriber).

Huffington Post’s media section, often liberal, but biting reviews, insights and news from the world of news media.

Innovation in College Media is a thoughtful blog about journalism, journalism education and college media. It offers lots of links to good ideas and examples.

Newslink.org links to virtually all online newspapers and magazines worldwide (started as a Marquette master’s project).

Front pages from more than 500 newspapers worldwide. Updated daily.

Wonderful blog of the world’s news designers. You can see what’s going on in the US and overseas along with discussion of it. Mostly newspapers.

A blog on legal issues for bloggers.

Lots of commentary on journalism, also where to get reliable numbers online. See also, the Wall Street Journal’s numbers guy’s blog.

Ask the Associated Press' stylebook editor.

American Copyeditors’ Society, lots of good stories and links. See also the group’s discussion board. And see also more discussion about copy editing at the Testy Copy Editors' group site.

It's primarily about copy editing, but includes some thoughts on the larger issues faced by editors.

Covers lots of newspaper topics, but is best at discussing newspaper and magazine cover design.

Site of the legendary Bong Bull, a cranky, irreverent copy editor’s discussion of his craft. No longer active, but I’d recommend anyone interested in editing to look at the archives. Besides, they're fun.

Getty Images photographers discuss photography.

Offbeat thoughts on journalism. A lot of good ideas.

Very interesting collection of posts on journalism from a man who says he does journalism as a hobby.

Odd but intriguing collection dedicated to grassroots journalism.

Annual report on state of the media includes lots of data. Should be read by all journalists

Leonard Downie's view of the future

Leonard Downie Jr., longtime executive editor of the Washington Post, talks about his view of the future. It's both heartening and grim since he identifies both the strengths and weaknesses of new media. Here's a transcript, which has a video attached.
